Help us demonstrate that AI can be a force for human advancement. We're building the future of accessible citizen science—and we need your help.
FAESR is a non-profit organization proving that artificial intelligence should create abundance, not scarcity. Our flagship project, Herald DSMO, is building a turnkey deep-space measurement platform for institutions and serious citizen scientists.
As a volunteer, you'll be part of a movement to democratize scientific tools. Your contributions directly impact researchers, educators, and curious minds who want to participate in real space science from their own backyards.
We welcome volunteers with diverse backgrounds and skill sets. Whether you can commit a few hours a month or want to take on a larger role, there's a place for you at FAESR.
Contribute to our open-source codebase. We work with Python, INDI drivers, and web technologies. Help build photometry pipelines, automation software, and user interfaces.
Help develop our AI processing pipeline. Train stacking models, improve photometric reduction algorithms, and optimize station adaptation learning across all observation modes.
Help design Herald's weatherproof enclosure and thermal management systems. Hardware is assembled—now we need housing. CAD skills and 3D printing experience valued.
Provide domain expertise on stellar photometry, variable stars, and emission nebulae. Help validate reduction algorithms and ensure scientific accuracy.
Write tutorials, setup guides, and API documentation. Help make Herald accessible to users of all technical backgrounds with clear, friendly documentation.
Help grow our community of citizen scientists. Moderate forums, welcome new users, organize virtual events, and share captures on social media.
Work on real-world AI, astronomy, and hardware challenges alongside experienced contributors.
All contributors credited in releases and documentation. Active contributors listed on our website.
Join a global network of scientists, engineers, and citizen science enthusiasts.
We're excited to welcome new volunteers! Reach out and tell us about your skills and interests. We'll find the right fit for your contribution.
